Google has finally announced [and is deploying] Google Drive. What is it?
Google Drive is basically a new front end for Google Docs. Doesn't sound very new you say? Here's something new; Drive includes a small application you may install [on Macs and PCs] to help bridge the gap between users' desktops and their Google Drives. It creates a sort of virtual drive that allows users to drag and drop files directly to Google Drive. This desktop feature greatly expands the usability of Google Docs, which now competes more directly with the likes of DropBox, Box.net, Microsoft's SkyDrive and many others. Google Drive includes five (5) Gigabytes of free storage, with additional storage [up to 16 terabytes!] available for purchase. Learn more about Google Drive.
